M, Betty Muriuki's comments, What Clay did was to adapt the piece for his article, using his own words. It is certainly not plagiarism, which would be repeating the original article word for word have got to be the most lax definition of plagiarism i have heard

I must confess i am beginning to have doubts as to the professionalism of this newspaper

First of all, kudos to you Truphena, these people need to be kept on their toes. Don't you see the typical response chronologically from the first one..

1. Deny it happened!!!..[and to some extent attack the accusers(s)]
2. When they continue to pester on now agree it happened and then
3. The infamous Can we all just get along?..

With respect to plagiarizing or not, there's certainly grey area as to whether this is infact truly a cut and paste job since the author did make an attempt to make reference to the original piece. Having said that the issue has been complicated even further by the fact that the dude didn't completely give credit. The editors need to come out and accept this and move on rather than drag this on and on.

Plagiarism = substantial use of another's ideas without attribution.
Muganda satisfies the description, so you shouldn't be fobbed off with vague promises to mention the column in the future.
I'd ask for a clear attribution in his next column...
