Back In Time

Posted April 15th, 2005 in Movie Magic by M

Those of us who were obsessed with the 80s cult classic cartoon Transformers, where robots would turn into assorted vehicles and aircraft will be glad to know that there just may be a movie coming out! I await with bated breath.

On the same vein I’m also looking forward to Batman Begins. After that atrocious fiasco with George Clooney as Batman and Arnie Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze, the franchise can only improve. Batman & Robin is not only the most awful Batman movie, it is also one of the most awful movies of all time. With bollocks lines like these:

Mr Freeze (Arnie): (With ice gun in hand) Everybody … CHILL!

It has no chance in heck! The Gothic, mysterious theme was lost completely in a kaleidoscope of mediocre plot, outfits and dialog! Nothing like Batman Forever, with Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman. Now that was a much better movie, with a great soundtrack

And the last nostalgia inspired movie am waiting for keenly is the Fantastic Four

Yeah, I’m unapologetically a fan of cartoons and comics. So sue me!

Transformers? I’d love to see the visual effects on that! It seems the film industry is following the trend in the music industry where they remake old movies. ‘Italian Job’, ‘Incredibles’, and more recently ‘Get Carter’ which features some of the original cast (Michael Caine). Batman Begins is bound to be good, given that it’s directed by Christopher Nolan. Plus it’s got a great cast. Another of Nolan’s good movies is Memento (http://imdb.com/title/tt0209144/) Excellent movie.

1.Transformers: ebu i sing kidodgo “..more then meets the eyes…the autobots meet their battle to destroy the evil forces of the decepticons…transformers…”

2.Batman and Robin. i disagree the worst line was “YOU’RE NOT SENDING ME TO THE COOLER!!!”
arguably changin batman and i think directors screwed that franchise

Forever-was good and if Kidman would kiss me that hard with seal in the back ground i’d probably be a happy sane person

As for Batman Begins-i hope it rocks. and superman, indian jones v…

3.Fantastic four; i also caught the trailer on Apple.com i can’t wait to see Chiklis(from shiled and Commish) in the role of ‘thing’

@Ironique – Get Carter was redone some time back by some black dudes — those afros were one of a kind!
@Msanii – Will check it out
@Mama J – I actually had Optimus Prime but my money was poured and my political enemies absconded with him :(
@Maitha – Hollywood seems to be running out of ideas fast, and in the process of all these remakes they’re doing damage to many franchises!
@Nick – I never got why they Autobots kept beating the Decepticons. There is no way a lorry, a Volkswagen Beetle and a bunch of Nissans can fix fighter jets and a guy who turns into a very big gun!

I hear you on Kidman. I’m sure Val Kilmer insisted on doing the scene a couple of times to get it right. The video for Kiss From A Rose is quite something.

We await them movies and see if they’re worth the hype!

Get Carter has been redone again, this time Carter is done by Stalone. The role suits him pretty well.

@maitha – I agree, most comic-book translations turn out horrible on the big screen. Personally, I’ve only like spiderman (1 & 2) and the hulk. Particularly the latter, directed by Ang Lee. He knows how to put depth of story in a comic character, none of that superficial stuff.

Batman Forever was just too much…..the movie was smooth, the acting was good, cinematography. They did a good job with that one. Yet to see Transformers, even in 2008, apparently that makes me crazy!

Yeh! I loved Batman Forever! Val Kilmer’s been called the best batman, but I’m still rooting for Christian Bale..Can’t wait for Dark Knight!!!!

Bale’s not bad but Kilmer did a perfect job. Just perfect!!
