Chocolate Teapots

Posted August 9th, 2005 in Politics by M

What was Kenya’s leadership doing instead of standing shoulder to shoulder with the still tearful, still traumatized Kenyan victims of the August 7 bombing?

Blowing hot air from their considerably large blow holes about some nonsense visa.

NOT ONE government official showed up at the commemoration ceremony.

Public money that will be wasted filing court cases in the defence of large sweaty gentlemen with a penchant for falling in bathrooms and shopping at Harrods I feel would be better spent getting treatment for some of the victims that still bear the trauma today.

I work hard from 8:30 to 5:00 and at times up to 7:00 so that my hard earned money will be deducted for people masquerading as leaders to get their grubby hands on my hard earned cash to waste it on spurious expenses like challenging decisions sovereign states have a right to make rather than improving the lot of our people.

Why oh why are we cursed with these self seeking, utterly selfish Gadarene swine?

I for one would not shed a tear if every one of our MPs emulated the Gadarene swine and run off a cliff. Our leadership, ladies and gentlemen, is a chocolate teapot — utterly useless!

reading this, i find it hard to believe that not even ONE of them was there. it can’t be that our government would be so insensitive.

nooo, somebody out there tell me it isn’t so…

I kid you not! NOT ONE of those useless buggers bothered to appear. Closest thing was Patrick Lumumba and he was not amused either that there was no government representative

  • http://crystalnotsoclear.blogspot.com kipepeo

wow! talk about a wow government who’s sole purpose is to serve their nation!!!! Are these people for real?

  • http://prousette.blogspot.com Prousette

Would love me a chocolate teapot to nibble on i.e made of chocolate.
I really did not expect them to turn up after all it was a weekend and there was no aquafresh moment to be covered by the press making them look good.

Its so sad to see these people who already suffered tremendously being treated so callously. They’ve been on strike for three weeks and in that time, there have been no official statements either from our government or the US on their plight.

The best they could come up with was some US embassy/USAID official showing up to bribe them with 10,000 bob! 10,000 bob for people who have to live with grievous injuries for the rest of their lives. Many have lost their sources of livelihood as a result of injuries sustained from the blasts and daily struggle to deal with the emotional, psychological scars.

Kenyan government Jester Alfred Mutua had the audacity to go on record and say “It is between them and Americans.”

I have no words to describe how I feel about this “our government”. And not just because of this issue. Its a damn shame that we continue to elect such clowns time and time again.

    God help us!

How incredibly inept and pathetic! I’m this close {–>] to smacking someone upside the head. Kibaki and his cronies should be ashamed…ashamed ashamed. Foolish bastards!

  • imn

it’s so worrying to see how callously our leaders treat Kenyan suffering … M I think you should run for government, we need at least one sensible person there

  • http://guessaurus.com Guess

@Ms K – the government said it was between them (victims) and the american govt? What is the Kenyan Govt for if not to intervene for its citizens with other Govts? What is their job?

And as M said, they are too busy fussing over a withdrawal of a visa and not doing their duties to the citizens who elected them to office, and whose money they use to service those trips abroad that they are being withdrawn visas for.

Q: How do you expect people to respect you when you dont respect them in return, and more importantly when you dont respect yourself at all!!?

“M, I think you should run for government, we need at least one sensible person there” te he he he

Shame, shame, shame! (Of the kind where Gikukyu cucus come at you full force – naked!)

@IMN (and G for encouraging him/her!): ebu stop putting ideas in the M’s head! If he joins the government, what happens to the blog? Not that taking the risk.

@P: on top form as usual ‘Aquafresh moment…’LOL!

@G: have you ever tried to go to your embassy, a.k.a. your government, when you are in trouble outside Kenya? Hee hee hee! You might be better off just admitting to those ‘terrorism charges’ and taking the consequences…. Think function might just be, to debate nonsensical issues, shop at Harrods, get lipo-suction at Harley Street (for the weight put on during the recovery process from the fall in the bathroom), and shaft it’s citizens as royally as possible. Respect issue so true.

@Ms K – ‘clowns every time.’ Yup it is sad.

I share everyone’s pain & frustration here & back home. What is widely referred to as Kenyan Governement DOES NOT exist, it’s merely a click of selfish crooks & robbers with hands deeps in the national coffers.
-I thought such events would be planned for atleast 9 months in advance & we’d have an idea of how many officials would participate. Ditto Wambui, “Shame, Shame, Shame!!”

  • Guy Fawkes

Do you want me to have a go at your parliament – please make sure all your MPs are in it?

  • Anonymous

My dear Kenyans why do we act with such shock.

That is what our lives mean to our politicians.
    NOTHING.

However, if there was some fund ……………

You all just jua the deal.

    DESPAIR OH AFRICA…

    http://www.eastandard.net/hm_news/news.php?articleid=27103

“Hunger in Niger? What hunger? asks the country’s president Mamadou Tanja. You can see the people of Niger are well -fed, they are happy, he says. That also includes those malnourished children with flies all over their faces that we regularly see on TV screens. Tanja says the country is only experiencing a food shortage, not ‘real famine.” What does a real famine look like if what we are seeing in Niger is not real?”

And we complain about racism… Oh, please better to face racism on a full stomach than freedom on an empty belly…

And please don’t blame the West for the locusts! After reading the above, I think the West should withhold all aid… after all Niger doesn’t need it…

    Well put.

Though i only have one issue with all kenyans (including myself) as pertains to our “leadership” situation……We are always complaining and not doing anything about it…….

I find myself falling in the same category like that of many kenyans…..always complaining or giving suggestions (good at talking) but no action……

    I have 2 practical solutions though…

    i) If you cant solve a problem, dont waste your energy on it, leave it.

    OR

ii) Focus on the things you can change….

    Maoni?

Its astounding that our politicians did not show up for the ceremony. The suffering that was inflicted on our people was un imaginable and what is even worse is the amount of suffering that they keep enduring under this very politicians. I will go as far as suggesting that the only way that we can help our people and country is by getting rid of this old school politians who are so absorbed with themselves. It is time and it has been time for new blood and ideas. Kenyans please wake up. Nothing ever surprises me about kenyan politicians.
