Miscellany

Posted February 3rd, 2006 in News by M

1) The Githongo report is sweeping the web. Just in case you’ve not gotten a hold of it, or it disappears mysteriously, get it here (Kudos to Dreddlocked1)

2) The details of our members of parliament, henceforth known as the Nitwit Brigade ™ is still online despite clumsy attempts to hide it. Get it while it’s hot

3) Unless something more pressing comes up I’ll post Ask M probably on the 20th. So you can still Ask M(e) anything. Caveat: Don’t bother asking for age, tribe, etc.

4) Yes, Cabinet Tales IV will be up Monday. Really.

  • http://www.kenyanmusings.blogspot.com KM

Okay so you beat me to it.
Question number 3 still begs to be answered. 20th? Are you mad?!!
and then you go impose restrictions as well? M surely? What is one without say age or tribe you mofo?! Or other things that may lead one to decipher tribe like say, second or third name? Why are people so difficult? Ama you are afraid of from whence you came?
Peter pan is a fairy tale. I swear! Sooner orlater even you will realise.
And I am second? Oh yaaay!

  • http://www.gukira.blogspot.com Keguro

Like the distinguished WM, I really just want a place on the groupie list.

    I’m third.

    Ok

M, I won’t ask your tribe or your age, but what tribe/tribes do your parents come from? And when did you celebrate your first birthday?

  • Wangu

Ok number 5 but i am working towards number 3

  • Shiroh

M why does your comments section imagine i am Wangu?
    That was Shiroh number 5

  • http://chrenyan.wordpress.com Chrenyan

    @Wangu
Why would M’s (anyone’s) tribe matter? Was in another African country recently where tribe didn’t matter and it was such a refreshing change. Sorry, it’s you who wants to know… si kwa ubaya.

    @M
When your posts are being anticipated so eagerly that you are having to say the date you’ll post them, ushafika, blogically speaking.

  • Wangu

I was just kidding … and apologise if my sense of humour (or lack of it) rubbed anyone the wrong way.

  • http://www.gukira.blogspot.com Keguro

I only ask truly important questions:

    1. Boots or Oxfords?
    2. Favorite Ice cream flavor?
    3. Favorite Color?
    4. What three people, from kbw or Kenya in general, would you like to see run for office?

  • acolyte

Good to have those links even though I had gotten the report of another source on the net.Seems like Kenyans spread gossip like wildfire be it on-line or in person! As for the questions let see, I’ve never been a question person but let me take shot:
1.Would you like your blog to go mainstream ie be affiliated with a media body in Kenya like Nation or Baraza ltd (the standard and KTN folk)
2.What kind of blogs bore you the most
3.Taking a cue from Keguro a political question (damn man is always one step ahead of me in the comments list! It’s like he sees me coming and posts a comment asap!) Do you think that democracy has failed us Kenyans and it is better for us to have a more autocratic system like what Russia is moving too and have our ministries and legislations dealt with by technocrats instead?

  • http://www.ntwiga.net/blog Ntwiga

This is obviously toungue_in-cheek day …..

I think Keguro’s questions are somewhat off though: I would have asked

    1. paper or plastic?
    2. Favorite Ice cream color? Not and never, flavor.
    3. Favorite Color?
    4. What three people, from kbw or Kenya in general, would you NOT like to see run for office?

I could be wrong about them being off though …..

    My truly important question:
Did anyone else notice how all MPs profiles are sorted alphabetically by last name but Kibaki that starts with K still managed to float to the top of the pile? What are the implications of that?

  • http://whisperinginn.blogspot.com Whispering Inn

What do you say I buy you lunch, M?

Humble pie to be precise. You were very critical of Githongo but that’s not the reason for the humbe pie menu.

Calling the man a coward is.

Can’t say I think very highly of people who use the word so loosely to target a man who turned down bribes, did his job well risking his life, the well-being of his family, his sanity and his integrity for his country, only to have his motives, his courage and competence called to question.

The report is out, he’s travelling to Kenya to testify and heads are already rolling.

The man has lived up to his end of the bargain – the epitome of courage and bravery if you ask me. It’s your turn my friend.
Pie, sir? (Literary speaking, of course.)

Well … I believe I responded exhaustively to WM’s sentiments on the same.

Before you begin to pontificate mightily you might want to get your facts right. I did not call the man a coward. I called him a disappointment. It is my opinion that he was precisely what I said until the instant he released that report, after which I without reservation withdrew my sentiments.

I was not impressed with his giving bullshit lectures on corruption. We’ve had quite enough talk from all levels of governance and I for one will stand for no more. Actions speak loudest to me. I am however quite impressed and gratified that action has finally come to light and that he released the report and is willing to come down to back it. (I think this is not entirely wise given the fate that befell the Mbais of this world …)

So for those who missed it — I without reservation withdraw what I said about him. He’s proven to be quite the contrary, and hats off to him.

As for not thinking highly of me – knock yourself out. I’m not one to pander to the public gallery. I’m not about to apologize for my thoughts or my opinions. I stand by them 100% upto the time that report shook the landscapes.

In the meantime, if past performance is a good predictor of what’s to come, Cabinet Tales IV will be a rib-tickling exercise at hilarity. I can’t wait!

  • I

M you need to stop hoaxing your groupies.. … Tales of the Cabinet???
    ala jamaa is of how???

  • I

can i ask now so you can have enuff time to think of an appropriate answer?

  • http://nakeel.blogspot.com Nakeel

    1. Night or day which one do you prefer to stay in?
    2. Given an opportunity to do something for Africa what would it be.
3.When was your last day in Primary school and which color was your uniform

  • http://www.gukira.blogspot.com Keguro

Aco: It’s because you’re on Southern time. Lifes moves slower in your parts. Plus, I *am* older.

If nothing else, let me go ahead, because, sure enough, my aged bald and fat body will no doubt be knocked over by a fast-moving youngster who likes to break bottles and threaten old men.

What’s wrong with asking flavor? (Don’t respond; you’ll make my slow ascent into the groupie list even slower!)

  • http://prousette.blogspot.com Prousette

Maybe I have exhausted my quota for questions but
do you have a curly kit? I know you have denied it several times but……. where did the people who suggested you did have the insinuation of its presence on your scalp?
    Have a lovely weekend.

  • http://whisperinginn.blogspot.com Whispering Inn

“I just stopped shy of calling this award the Coward Of The Year.” – Semantics.

Well, we clearly need to compare notes over what ‘stopped shy’ means.

    Aaanyway, moving on…

Concur on Githongo’s safety upon his return.

I can just see ‘gangsters’ attacking Githongo and the govt ‘condemning, in the strongest possible terms’ the violence. Githongo should stay where he is. There are wonderful technologies like video conferencing that do not require his physical presence!!!

By the way, Amos Kimunya called Kenyans a ‘mob’ on National TV on Thursday. Tsk tsk!!!

  • http://whisperinginn.blogspot.com Whispering Inn

You’re right. Githongo should seriously reconsider his return.
Kimunya’s contemptuous remark doesn’t surprise me. Him and the clique at State House are the classic manifestation of the old cliche – power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Remember the “Title Deed being mere pieces of paper” proclamation made last year. These folks are drunk with power and see themselves as invincible. They see Kenyans as silly little pesky pawns. The saddest part, though, is that they are coming back to parliament in 2007!

  • mruhya

Saw that Kimunya thing on “newsline” last week. Its incredible how these ministers look down on the eloctorate.

Incidentally, has anyone seen this guy’s “government issue” mots??

  • mruhya

Oh, and i also heard a certain KACC is investigating the bank accounts of some ministers who have “amassed incredible wealth” since they came into power namely – kiraitu, kirwa and kituyi.

    whats your take on that?

  • aminaomari

so they are now after the goldenburg group who has an axe to grind in the kacc? is it pay back or
    is it pay back?

  • smokeyhotpot

    oh man! what is this
