as they say where i come from, you kill a snake by thwacking the head. if you get the drift, do the needful come 2007. or even earlier as these nitwits are on a mission to outdo each other to please their fence sitting, tight-lipped, sleepy boss (i can imagine the glee pasted across his face as he watched the cctv clips: some warped sense of humour this baks got)

Gather round people...what kills you..is DEATH!! Avoid that, and you will have eternal life. Ha! Ati we don't have philosophia!

krisidiot (if he was still in the govt) would have called the media attention on the raid a "Blitish prot to bling down da regitimate erected government"...

Insanity - Affliction that affects kibaki, members of his family, his associates & his hired goons.

After roocy's (kib's wife #1) foray into the Nation Centre was a bust, kibs sent his goons to the Standard.

michuki - a former homeguard - is a nincompoop. Hussein Ali (Commish of Police) needs to either fire kamau & all the senior officers who participated in this raid OR resign in protest!

This same kamau was involved in "investigating" the Goldenberg scandal frustrated Murgor's (then DPP) efforts to investigate high level crime. According to kibs kamau is "one of us".

How can the police investigate themselves...? Anyone smell the stink of COVERUP?
Oh, by the CID headed by kamau...

A pal of mine who works at the Standard told me how he had to go and re-do the layout at 6am as it was on his comp which was one of those carried away by those thugs.Like I told some blogger who was trying to justify the governments actions, there is a way of doing things. It is called due process.Plus isnt some government official supposed to be reading the first edition of the paper? If they had done so and taken exception they should have then impounded the paper and hauled in the editors.Plus I dont get to watch KTN so I would like to know whether KTN covered the story or are they guilty by association.
I once a long time ago campaigned for a gvt publicist but what we have is a government parrot plus all the usual suspects keep putting their feet in their mouths in turns.
Even in the worst Moi days I do not recall him ever doing something this drastic.
ps: who was policing the city as all those cops were herding Standard employees on Likoni Rd?

More exposure is what we need -- people in Nairobi go out and take pictures, hear and see -- blog, send emails, upload pictures to flikr -- use the new media to show them they CANNOT control us any more.

"But then again the Government is stuffed by fellows who think the Internet is used to catch fish."

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!....How d'you come up with such stuff? I'm still reeling from this one.

Michuki the homeguard!...LMAO!

On a more serious note, I'm sure there'll be a lot of articles written about this which should make for interesting reading on the blogosphere the next few days. On my part, I just don't see how, roughing up guardsmen and moonlighters can in any way minimize any potential "political damage" from the story that baks met KM. In any case, the story will probably be found to be untrue. Like you say M, peeps in the administration have the IQ of powdered water.

I am breaking my long silence because this has hurt me to the core. I am a young Kenyan who KNOWS we can be so much more. This is a throwback to the moi days. And most Kenyans know what that was like & never want to go back!

The government pays good money to advertise how much "freedom" we have now & goes right on to perpetrate the same crimes.

I am not an advocate of violence but I wish Kenyans would just peacefully shut down the country for a few days. It will cause immense pain & suffering but I hope Kenyans can force an interim government & start afresh asap.

My heart was not in my work today. I am dejected & ANGRY over what transpired. kibaki & his minions should be looking at S.Africa, Rwanda & Botswana for inspiration NOT Uganda & Zimbabwe.

I might not agree with the Standard on many issues especially the quality of reporting but what was perpetrated was pure hate by imbeciles.

Do the pumbavus realise that this will only galvanise Kenyans against them?
Do they realise that Kenyans might see violence as the only way out?
Do they realise that they can sue Standard if they feel they were maligned?
Is there something else they are hiding?

Anyway, I need to go brood...
