If the Chinese have problems cracking down on dissent what hope does michuki have?
He needs to retire coz he still thinks he is a colonial-era DO.
Kibz got his wish to be prez but needs to retire coz 2007 will kick him out the door! We need smart younger folks in government not the wazees who think we will listen & never complain just coz we "respect" the elders!

Joe - There are thousands of Kenyans (let alone TZ, Ugandans, Somalis & others) who would use KQ to fly direct to Kenya so they can shave off 8 hours off their flight! The US - LHR/AMS - NBO route is very tiring plus the taxes in the UK are horrendous!

South African Airways flies from direct to New York. They make a stop on some small island (to refuel?) but apparently it is always full. So why not KQ?

Don't let KQ's comments about "unprofitable route" confuse you. They are smart folks & perhaps use it as a negotiating tactic! BTW, KQ will become an associate member of SkyTeam that encourages "seamless' connections & if NorthWest can deliver passengers to KQ in the USA then KQ will fly them to Kenya.

I am not even counting the American tourists... just the KENYANS visiting Kenya for the holidays. If KQ flies to USA then there are many others e.g. Mauritians, Congolese, Malawians, etc who would use KQ as an alternate to SAA.

Enough said!!! Excellent post, and yeah, LOL. But it's the saddest thing when things are going this wrong and the executive has nothing to do except rehash on the colour of it's dirty linen.
To MICHUKI..and his SILLY childish threats...It's a free world, and a free country...When those Kenyan's gave their lives in the dark days of Kenyatta and Moi to agitate for our freedoms they were not interested in "one of our own" being in power so they could apply state power to dim the hopes of the populance!!1

Those homeguard threats will not work, long live the writen word, long live the truth, long , long shall it live and outlive us.

Ask Moi where his threats lead him to...WE DONT CARE WHAT THE EXEC THINKS IF IT IS NOT OF BENEFIT TO THE TASK AT HAND. Say it LOUD, say it PROUD, say it CLEAR!!!

My good sir i dont want to argue i just did a post on this issue ebu explain it to me coz i just dont get it
1.will tourists not come because guns were unleashed at the airport.
2.will states allow kenya airways to fly into states( by the way that isnt going to be happening anytime soon) states is not a viable option for kq trust me and i live here .
3.Will western governement shift to juba, kampala or dar as a regional hub because artur had a fight at jkia
4.will the travel advisories be increased because of this incident afterall we have had those advisories now for a long while you cant add advisories ontop of advisories

in short i am not deminishing the need for secure airport but this things will have no effect whats so ever . if the embassy bombings did not stop nairobi from being a regional hub then this wont. two years ago an egyptian man drove into LA.(lax) and killed tourist at the airort a much bigger case yet the american press didnt go about making mountains over mole hills anyway i would love to hear your views on my post

lol baba jimmy needs all the prayers he can get . I dont support his government but i think people are over reacting at the implication of the airport incident.Kibaki himself as the president should not have stopped to address such matters it only shows he is guilty . but lets not blow things out of propotion .

the standard newspapers especially have been blowing things out of propotion of late in a bid to embarass the government even though the governement is playing into their hands by messing up . recent stories like kenyan embassy being sold over nexus payments is just foolish news. havent our very educated newspaper men ever heard of diplomatic immunity and the geneva connection on diplomatic rights and privilages come on its just another ploy to insight kenyans against the government . but kibaki also need topull up his soaks and stop being this people the chance to write all this foolish stories they keep feeding kenyans

My friend, that is nothing short of shadow boxing. "Embarassing the government" is not the issue here. The newspapers don't do anything. The government falls over itself in an effort to make a fool of itself. It is self inflicted.

As for the ramifications of the airport incident i suggest you think about it some more and then sleep on it. How do you think it will affect

Tourism industry

Efforts for Kenya Airways to fly directly to the USA

Kenya as a hub of East and Central Africa

Travel advisories

Spot on the money! That a bunch of raggedy Armenians (Armenians!!!!!!!!) could just waltz in and act like Kenya is their personal stomping ground is ridiculous beyond compare. But then, I'm also trying to balance the 2 competing left brain/ right brain activities of outrage and ROTGLMBAO at the Dwalin!!??

He he! Chick, I'm still concerned about your mental health. Because is bilas
