[...] Obama’s visit to Kenya has definitely been big news in Kenya. As was aptly put by M, “Everyone, and everything, from the man on the street, to livestock, to stray cats and dogs, to insects and grubs, to pond scum all the way down the politicians fell over (it/them)selves to see and shake the hand of the Senator.” What is it about famous people that draws us to them, be it political figures, musicians, movie stars, sports men and women, etc? It is with pride that most will recount their encounters, no matter how brief, with some celebrity of sorts. Our fascination is such that quite a number of the requests made to the Make-A-Wish foundation involve celebrities. [...]

Joe - My friend, wako who was caricatured playing pata potea... is the chief government legal advisor!

- wako entered into a nolle prosequi when the cameraman who was assaulted by roocy kibz sued her.
- Shouldn't the police & wako have pursued the perpetrators of the heinous acts against the Standard?
- Many of the major scandals (Anglo-fleecing, Goldenberg, etc) happened under wako's watch!
- kibz was among those who ku-enjoyed at the government trough!

My memory is hazy... who said cutting down kanu is like using a razor blade (well, probably pronounced as lazer braid) to cut down a mugumo tree?

Vitu vingi you could not have said anything more true ''Joe - An ardent supporter of kibz & narc-k" so for that I say Yes I am supporter of progress, trickle down economics ,compassionate conservative social and economic polices rather than liberal hype . So I say kibaki -baado anatosha

As for your comparisons with Chicago and painting a picture that is aimed at misleading Kenyans let us remember that obama is now a US senator and not a state senator as before His responsibilities are not confined to Chicago but to the whole United States .

As for your statement "You can’t blame Obama for Kenyans’ penchant for sycophancy" I am glad that you recognized that this was a case of true unadulterated sycophancy on the side of Kenyans. Two weeks later Obama is home and Kenya is the none richer.

A few years back when I was a die hard Uhuru supporter almost every Kenyan I knew was of the view that Kenya needed change and that kibaki was the man to bring that change. People gave glowing tribute to the man and his economic foresight and education background .At the time I questioned how come I could not see any drastic change ,to which I was told things don’t just change it takes time to rid the rot ,grow the economy and change a country that was deeply troubled. Three years down the line the same Kenyans are calling for change and opposing the man they gave such glowing tribute to .I on the other hand after watching from the sidelines had a Damascus experience see the beauty of free education, a growing and vibrant economy, a clean judiciary, freedom from dark cells in nyayo house and a whole lot to come. So yes now that the snakes have been purged from the real rainbow alliance and the butcher from bondo(1982) has gone along with them then I guess this is a good time to announce that I support NARC-K
