OK Dude, my first post on the crisis in Kenya is up as of 18:00 CET. I featured your post at the end of my piece with a bit of tweaking to correct some errors I found (hope you don't mind the edits).

Good luck over there and many of us are quietly praying for a rapid return to peace and sanity and reconciliation in Kenya.

Whatever you do, don't let the "powers-that-be" in Nairobi piss-off US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer tomorrow. Ask the Somalis, they know all about her. "Dr. J" (Jendayi) is meaner than a junkyard dog when you get her worked up!

I agree with Wanjiru, being a well educated man, Kibaki of all the people should have ensured a transparent and democratic election. Now Moi looks like a hero. As of now, we beseech all Kikuyu elders and advisers to face the president and request a re-count. Because a fallen Kenya spells doom to all of us be whether Luo or Kikuyu. And surely Mr Kibaki having been given elected in 2002, should have protected the process that gave him the mandate to lead by all costs. Cant African presidents borrow a leaf from Mr Nelson Mandela?

Thanks M for this excellent explanation about why the targeted violence, looting and thuggery, cold-blooded murder of women and children, and general chaos erupted throughout Kenya after this scam of an election. Up to now I have not seen anything in the international press and media that even approaches your analysis of the ongoing crisis.

You should think about allowing cross-posting of this article and others in case the "Federales" succeed in shutting down your blog. I'd be interested in supporting you (and others) in that way at Jewels if it becomes necessary. It's amazing that "tHiNkEr'S rOoM" is still publishing LIVE under the strict national media clampdown imposed by the ruling government, which brings up an important question.

Are KP, Mental, and other top KBW/KBR bloggers still able to publish to the Sphere or have they been shut down as some are suggesting? Who's Hot (Live and Accurate) in the Kenyan sub-Sphere right now and for how long?

Nobody raised a finger nor made much comment when similar slaughter was carried out in the slums a few months ago. Why is this any different, and more shocking ? Is it because it is closer to home ?

We are not a country but an agglomeration of warring tribes. That we butcher each other, while some others celebrate is natural.

We have never been a democracy. Look at the media coverage now, both the nation and the standard merely report news. I can get the same news from reuters/aljazeera/cnn etc...

Have I seen any intelligent analysis of the scam that has been perpetrated upon us ?
None. None None.
It should have been the media acting as a watchdog, analyzing the return of votes and raising the alarm.

Why are they waiting for an EU observer to suggest that "print the voter returns from constituencies in the newspapers". Why can't they do it themselves ?

To me both the nation and the standard or no better than tabloids. Nothing independent, nothing new. Maybe they are just mirrors of us as a people.

I make no secret that I wished Kibaki to win this elections, however the events that have been unfolding since the 31st have made question if this guy is the right man for this job.

What galls me the most is the damned silence, this man does not even bother to address the nation and give his side of the story of what he plans to do now that Kenya is burning. It is situations like this that show people who have leadership qualities and I am afraid to say both candidates have failed Kenya. ODM seem to be revelling in the chaos and hoping this will raise enough pressure and heat to make Kibaki quit. We have seen what happens.

Our options:

1) Complete and total vote recount
2)Raila gives up
3)Kibaki gives up
4) Total anarchy
5) A goverment of national unity
6) A transitional goverment and election within 6 months

Just because am kyuk does not mean I support what Kibaki did. The people being killed had nothing to do with rigging of elections. The reports we see are that both sides were guilty of election offenses.

Now they burn a church in Eldoret whilst Raila and Kibaki are safe in their mansions. What happens when kyuks retaliate?

I don't think Kibaki conceding and stepping down will help at all coz then the kyuks will protest and take to arms.

Both leaders need to step up and tell the masses to stop fighting. The march tomorrow will make things worse coz Kenyans will die for sure. I think it was irresponsible for ODM to call that meeting. If the strategy is to make the country ungovernable, then they should know that it is their people, tax-payers and supporters that will die!

Alas there are many who are still in denial. After pondering the difficulty we are faced with for a few days, their profound solution is to ask us to "pray for Kenya."
They provide the picture of a mother who will not believe that her child [or pet] is a serial murderer[ or poisonous viper] and she continues to feed it and shelter it.
If you turn to the Daily Nation online [zero picutes of this trajedy mind you] they counting how much MONEY is beng lost.
All told, this regime has murdered more central kenya youths in the name of fighting mungiki than any other people
NB: I will not use the tribal word "Kikuyus" because i believe this is merely the third language spoken by these people. Colonial tribal divisions does not define our ethnicity in 2008.
We are so integrated today our tribe is "kenya" and our first language is "sheng" [swa], second is english. Most of us cannot find our "home districts" on a map let alone of the ground!
Let us not be coopted in this OLD octagenian war

I like your analysis. Not only did this gov loose touch with the grass root, IT IS STILL NOT IN TOUCH! How else would you explain the fact the kenyans are dying and the "president" has the temerity to wish people a happy new year! When I heard/read that I was like "is this man for real? Its a shame that many of the so called inner circle were at one time or another human rights crusaders! makes you wonder!

Keep the updates coming and thank you.
