I’m Just Asking …

Posted April 14th, 2009 in Reflections by M

Aside from providing opportunities for MPs, assorted heads of state, as well as journalists with extra travel budgets and bloggers with miscellaneous grants to dispose of, just what, precisely, did the London Summit achieve?

Bonus points if the answer doesn’t include any of the following:

  • Beginning the process
  • Exchange ideas
  • Concerted effort
  • Commitment
  • Engagement
  • Grand plan

I’m just asking.

    Nothing.

    Let me guess.

Someone is jelous because they didn’t get invited to London or Geneva.

    Grow some balls.

Keep your shirt on my son. Lent being over does not mean you necessarily have to give up not being an ass. I asked a very simple question.

My state of ballitude/ball-ness/ballniticy is something you needn’t concern yourself over.

It is also neither here nor there whether I was invited or not. How, pray tell, do you know I was not invited?

Since you were clearly invited (I imagine you believe congratulations are in order), then tell us. What was achieved?

    1. Obama got to campaign in Europe, and appear to be helping out politicians with re-election problems (Gordon?).
    2. Sarkozy now kinda owes Obama, is using the political mileage to… look good? Catch the wave? Be hip? I really don’t know.
    3. Calm markets. Americans are not panicking and withdrawing money from the stock market.
    4. Distract the media from the fact that the financial community has the world govts cornered and the govts. are going to make them whole.

errr…The Obamas spread their awesomeness further into Europe and now Brown et al are [temporarily] awesome-ish. They want to believe.

Oh, and don’t forget The Breach…aka the aw naw you di’in’! moment that will live in infamy…[not really]

Gorblimey! ten thousand thundering typhoons! she just bloody touched the queen! Oi…oi…I say, Michelle,…for fuxs sake tone down the PDA already!
…centuries of royal bloody protocol pissed out the window just like that…bollocks!

In other words, I’ve got nothing.

“Lent…ass”…ouch!! It almost passed me by but I guess CRE and Sunday school wasn’t such a waste…

    Bruv…

The only thing Brown was interested in is salvaging his political fortunes. He’s what you describe as a dead man walking – and I guess a shot at saving the world gives him a fighting chance to keep his name on the stationary at No. 10 for a while longer.

Otherwise, folks should just get used to Cameron being the next head honcho…

As for the summit, it was a circus as expected. Thinking it was going to be anything else is just naive.

It provided a news item for the news channel.
