Can't fathom the thought of sitting still to watch some of the shows you mentioned above but i will watch 30s Rock, Hustle, Dexter and Criminal Intent. I haven't seen an episode of Spartacus to offer any insight. For the films, i have decided my enthusiasm could be better utilized on watching Indie films and ignore the big budget movies that Hollywood is currently spewing because lets face it they're going to be complete garbage. And as though that isn't enough everything is suddenly being made in 3D. Why can't they understand that they loose the whole essence of the film by doing so and what was so wrong with 2D? I could go on and on about this but am just going to be more frustrated so will quit while i still have my sanity intact! That doesn't excuse the crap that is playing on TV and at cineplexes, though. There are plenty of great "genre" movies that one could watch instead of, say, <i>Sex and the City 2</i>, or bad rom-coms. As for TV, basic cable and cable TV are putting out some really great shows, and I love watching <i>The Mentalist,/i> and </i><i>House</i> (when I have some free time) on the network stations. In addition, there are great TV shows <i>from other countries</i> that one can find through Netflix or even (occasionally) on Youtube. I guess the silver lining in all this, in addition to the fact that there are still some great shows on television and some great movies in theaters, is that popular fare doesn't last long in the audience's consciousness, whereas works of art do.
