came the calm.
After the rain
came the shine.

After the night
came the day.
After the thunder
came the quiet.

I rose this morning,
still recalling.
And felt the sun
and its soothing calm.

I opened the door,
and saw no more,
the gloomy sky
or the reason why.

My soul will soar,
Into the new day

Our hands together,
we will forever…

And at the end of the day,
and after all these years
I don’t know where to hide
from The Rain Of Tears…

The breeze whispered in the trees and it wanted to say,
it had traveled all the way, coming straight from you,
I could tell it was true,
I could smell your perfume …

And at the end of the day,
and after all these years
I don’t know where to hide from
The Rain Of Tears…

Beautiful skies, so endlessly blue,
telling me a secret you already knew,
we are so very far apart,
but I can see into your heart

And at the end of the day,
and after all these years
I don’t know where to hide from
The Rain Of Tears…

I’m standing right now in your favourite place,
feeling the warmth of the sun across my face,
driving away the mists of my doubt,
knowing you’re here, within not without

And at the end of the day,
and after all these years
I don’t know where to hide from
The Rain Of Tears…

Hearing the birds as they sing away,
I know they repeat what they hear you say,
that the soul of a song that is sung today,
will be freed and be glad that I can soar away

And at the end of the day,
and after all these years
I don’t know where to hide from
The Rain Of Tears…

And if it does rain I can stand outside,
I can look up the skies with my arms open wide,
I can feel the drops as they mix with my tears,
and wonder when I will be done with my fears,
and I can break out and smile because now it’s so clear,
that no matter how far you are, you are always near,
I can feel your tears blending with mine,
and then I know that I’m going to be fine.

And at the end of the day,
and after all these years
I don’t know where to hide from
The Rain Of Tears…

But as long as I can feel that the sun in warm,
and with every new day another flower is born,
and with all the kind words that people will say,
and with every smile that I give away,
and all the memories i will remember today,
I may not have to hide from
The Rain Of Tears…..

Sitting here, by these windows,
looking out into the night,
wondering as the wind blows
will we ever get it right.

It’s a sad kind of funny,
a funny kind of sad,
when people so together
can be so very far apart.

    Watching as the clouds
wipe the tears of the skies;
feeling the shrouds of dread
drifting slowly over my eyes.

It’s a sad kind of funny,
a funny kind of sad,
when people so together
can be so very far apart.

    Countless place and countless times
I’ve reached out for your hand;
You were there, but you were not
I can’t begin to understand.

It’s a sad kind of funny,
a funny kind of sad,
when people so together
can be so very far apart.

Clasped together, gliding on the dance floor
dancing so slow it feels there’s tomorrow;
I whisper to myself, I want to know,
Do I dance with you or with a shadow?

It’s a sad kind of funny,
a funny kind of sad,
when people so together
can be so very far apart.

So now today I reach out my hand,
will you take it, and clasp my fingers
or will you not, and let me linger?

It’s a sad kind of funny,
a funny kind of sad…

There once was a chap named Christopher,
who filled a good deal of a sofa.
Who one day was told,
put your plans on hold
if you want to travel to Britain.

Increase that day did his sweating,
as he sat there sullenly regretting,
saying sadly to himself,
“Oh how I am unlucky,
not to buy a new rubber ducky“

Christopher thought it was a disaster,
that Kenyans were rolling in laughter,
singing “rub-a-dub dub,
you fell in a tub,
and now your body is a bump“

And enter Mwakwere the Minister,
looking disjointed, shifty and sinister,
who created a whole mess,
on the strength of an SMS,
that hostages in Iraq where freed.

He opened his mouth and let loose,
and put his neck straight in a noose,
and left no doubt,
that he really knows nought,
when it comes down to diplomacy.

So Christopher assembled his lawyers,
and said to us all “Look before ya,
I’m really as sure, as I know my manure,
that very soon, I hope, I’ll be off to Europe
And run my ministry remotely“

Countries and continents may lie between us,
but what I ask, could come between us?

The world of you I want to discover,
your very essence, your glorious wonder.

The depths of you I want to explore,
today, tomorrow and forever more.

I want to be so near to you,
adore you, admire you and revere you.

Of all the ways to pass the time:

I wish to see the curve of your smile,
I wish to be lost in the depths of your eyes.

I wish to whisper, into your ear,
my every thought, my wish and my fear

Lucky and blessed and nothing less,
is to know and love your sweet finesse

Even as I began this poem before,
I find right now, if I truly recall,
that I love you just a little bit more…

Mirth would be the most appropriate reaction to the just concluded KANU elections, with a sprinkling of puzzlement

Mirth
- Anthony “Terminator” Kimetto, with his Buffalo haircut descending on a hapless Secretary General Julius Sunkuli with kicks and a mahogany chair
- Secretary General Julius Sunkuli’s timeless quote “I felt like I had been hit by lightning” after being kicked in the cojones by Kimetto
- Dalmas Otieno, Mutula Kilonzo and Chris Okemo pulling a fast one on Nicholas Biwott and defecting the night before
- All 3 feet of the Total Man rushing up and down in Kasarani
- Elections starting 11 hours behind schedule
- Dalmas Otieno’s delegates theatrically outraged with him for switching sides without so much as a “by your leave”

Puzzlement
Why did Biwott run for the chairman post at all? There is no way in hell he would have been good for the party, and I’m sure he knew this too
Conspiracy Theories
1) Sponsorship by Moi and the “owners” of KANU To discourage anyone else from giving Uhuru a run for his money
2) Sponsorship by Kibaki’s Boys to make sure that KANU had no hope in hell of being a credible opposition
3) Knowing that without Moi or a party position he was pretty much just another 3 foot tall dude. He has an inherent need to call shots somewhere or the other

Prospective Chairman Nicholas Biwott ignores the cretin who has just asked him to stand up.
“I’m already standing!” an annoyed Biwott mumbles to himself
